Ceremony for admitting someone to the

Order of the Stag

 

 

Herald:  Their Royal Majesties command all Companions of the Order of the Stag to attend This Court and Company.

Stags come forward, bow, and kneel, leaving an aisle.

 

Crown:  May speak personal words about a person's exemplary service, without naming them.

 

Herald:  The Crown now calls _________________ into Their Court.

 

Crown:  Speaks personal words to the recipient, before or after the scroll is read.

 

Herald:  Reads the scroll or text below:

Proclaim to all gentles and nobles and let it be known by these present letters that We, _____________ and _______________, King and Queen of these mighty Outlands send due Commendations and Greetings.  We hope not only to embellish, but to increase the dignity of the Outlands when We dispense titles of honor among noble, discreet and valiant persons.  Wherefore We have directed the regard of Our consideration to _________________, who has rendered to us and Our Kingdom not only useful but fruitful and honorable service.

Hence We do prefer and create [him/her], by Grant of Arms, a Companion of the Stag.  We further grant [him/her] the right to bear the insignia of the order:  Vert, two stags combatant sustaining between them a column argent, a bordure engrailed Or.

Done by Our hand this ___ day of __________, Anno Societatis ____ being _____ Gregorian.

Crown:  Presents the recipient with medallion (which could be done while the scroll is being read), and makes further comments, if any.

 

King:  Go now, and greet your fellow companions!

 

Herald:  For The Honorable [Lord/Lady] ____________, HIP, HIP... (3 CHEERS)
